Three reasons to buy a 2021 Volvo XC40 instead of a 2021 Lexus UX

The small luxury SUV segment has grown significantly in recent years. Manufacturers have started to offer compact sport utility vehicles that are perfectly suited to the city, but with a higher level of luxury, and consumers have noticed. The 2021 Volvo XC40 and the 2021 Lexus UX, in particular, offer consumers all the luxury expected of their respective manufacturers, but at an affordable price.

That said, there are some important differences between the 2021 Volvo XC40 and the 2021 Lexus UX, including interior space, performance and safety. Let's take a closer look.

    It is more spacious

The biggest difference between the 2021 Volvo XC40 and the 2021 Lexus UX is space. While the XC40 is a small SUV, the Lexus UX is more of a small car with high ground clearance. The difference is noticeable inside, as the XC40 offers more room for passengers in addition to offering more space in the trunk.

    It is more powerful

The XC40 offers two engines just like the Lexus UX, but the difference in performance is noticeable. The Volvo XC40 T4 offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 187 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque compared to just 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque for the Lexus UX. On the road, you will immediately notice the difference in performance.

To give you an idea, there are compact sedans priced at $ 25,000 that offer more power than the Lexus UX.

The other engine option in the XC40 is the T5 which offers 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which is 100 lb-ft of torque more than the Lexus UX. The difference is palpable in all situations. Also, the all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge is coming soon, an engine option you won't find in the UX lineup.

    It is safer

Both the 2021 Lexus UX and the 2021 Volvo XC40 are safe. On the other hand, the Volvo XC40 benefits from a standard all-wheel drive system while the Lexus UX is offered only in front-wheel drive version with the base engine. The XC40, therefore, offers better handling and better traction in all situations.
